Green shield - it is time for a change
Violation of the right to adequate medical treatment is the daily lot of many of the medical cannabis patients in Israel.
Patients who are forced to deal with Sisyphean bureaucracy, lack of professional knowledge and medical experience are impairing the treatment of medical cannabis patients.
Furthermore, the health system does not do enough to remedy the situation and does not provide the adequate clinical response in cannabis treatment, as it does not meet the personal requirements of the different patients.
The association for correct consumption arose out of the cry of many patients who feel they have been mistreated, forgotten and even ignored, as they are not receiving the proper medical care they deserve by law.
Patients are in need for our collective care and contribution, for the public to stand united for the purpose, which will help us to address the challenges and the needs that arise from the current medical and regulatory status in a beneficial and comprehensive way in order to achieve the required freedom for effective treatment and to obtain full equality of rights for the diverse range patients. The public depends on our collective actions and support until the current reform is fully corrected.
OUR GOALS
The association for correct consumption recently launched the "Green Shield" campaign to raise public awareness in order to change the current medical method to improve the rights of medical cannabis patients.
Our main goal - to ensure that every medical cannabis patient receives the adequate treatment he deserves.
By donating to the "Green Shield" campaign, you are supporting a critical fight for patients’ rights in Israel.
Every donation that is collected will be directed to the advancement of the association's goals, for the legal and regulatory struggle to change the situation as soon as possible.
The transfer of licensing and treatment to the health insurance funds resulted in significant difficulties in increasing their dose, obtaining renewals for existing licenses and prescriptions. Many patients have encountered unacceptable delays and even significant lowering of their doses, which harms their ability to receive propper and continuous treatment which is essential to their health and the success of the treatment.
As a part of the current reform, cannabis treatment cannot be provided in the private sector of the healthcare system but only in the public one which hasn’t been educated about cannabis treatment and is already facing collapse even before the events of 7.10
The mental health and psychiatry systems are overloaded. This causes a delay in immediate treatment of new and old patients whose treatment is interrupted, leading to further harm physically and/or mentally for those who already suffer.
The prescription for medical cannabis is the only prescription for which a patient has to pay extra cost separately to the health insurance fund in addition to the fixed monthly payment to the health insurance fund, unlike any other medical treatment.
In the current reform, for obtaining prescriptions for cannabis one must pay 360 NIS, and 180 NIS for renewing the prescriptions. a high price that is not justified, considering that the "entry level" for the treatment of medical cannabis is mainly for people who suffer greatly and are unable to work or regularly maintain their daily lives, and this is in addition to the unsubsidised high costs of the cannabis products themselves.
The heavy regulatory restrictions on the information that is allowed to be made available to the public does not allow us to present and utilize the full potential of the treatment. This, alongside the lack of flexibility in changing the prescription is hindering the public from learning and adapting the treatment to us in an optimal way.
